I finally found a case to display my guns in, an antique china cabinet with a glass door. It was made in Boston by Paines Furniture Co, where, strangely, my wife used to work.
Now I gotta find the right spot for it.

Couple of things. Not exactly black powder, but black and powder related.
First. Did FDR and Churchill ever receive a prize for freeing Europe and establishing peace aand freedom around the world? NO!
Did Ronald Reagan ever win a prize for helping to free millions from Soviet rule and demanding that Mr. Gorbachev "bring down this wall"? NO!
Did Jack Kennedy ever win a prize for standing up to Kruschev and telling him to knock it off in Cuba? No! For standing with the world against communism and proclaiming that we are all citizens of Berlin? No!
Did George W. Bush ever win a prize for freeing millions of Iraqis from "the butcher of Bagdad"? No!
Did Barack Obama ever win a prize for trash talking the US around the world, holding hands with despotic leaders like Hugo Chavez and making concessions to murderous, women hating organizations like the Taliban? Of course he did.
Should we be proud that our sitting president won a prestigious peace award. Yes we should, so why aren't we? Actually I'm not a US citizen, you are. So, are you proud? If so, then be proud, and never mind me. I'm just shaking my head.

Second item. Bullets. Let's see if I got this right. Colt made an 1851 Navy revolver in .36 caliber. But it wasn't really .36, it was .375, they just called it .36. Then when they converted them to cartridge revolvers, they established the .38 Short Colt bullet, which was a heeled bullet. They called it .38 because the chambers were .38 and the case for the cartridge was .38. The bullet was still .375. Then along came the .38 Long Colt, which was longer, more powerful, and now a .357. Colt then produced the .38 Super, for automatic weapons. Still a .357 diameter. Then along came the .38 Special, by Smith and Wesson. It competed with the Colt .38, and is also a .357. To compete with the .38 Super Smith and Wesson developed the .357 Magnum. It seems like the first .357 to actually be called a .357. Even the .380 is a .355 diameter bullet. I have a question. Is there a cartridge that is called .38 of some kind, that is actually .38 of an inch in diameter?

Belgian Centennial Centaure. Barrel set back to set .006 cylinder gap and bottom the arbor. Forcing cone and muzzle crown concentric with the bore as is the breech end and muzzle end faced concentric. Nice action. Click click click goes the Colt. Wife gives the action a positive final approval. Alignment good. Lock up tight without slop. Tight arbor. Interior parts all original and have little wear.Tuned, timed, ect.ect. Nice old gun fixed up to be ready to shoot. No stuck nipples or rust. Some wear and little dings and dangs to the finish. Wood fit good to the grip strap. Serial number 6558. No stripped screw threads. A few of the screws have some buggers to the slots. All fixable though.Real good cylinder notches especially for a Centaure.
All in all just a nice fixed up old gun without any real problems because I fixed them all.
I forgot what year Wolf said it was probably made. Had to be in the sixties. The good old sixties.
Anyway.....what would you Pards say this is honestly worth? Smoking Gun should remember this one.He owned it a short while.

I bought these clothes items several years ago, and worn one vest only one time.
I have since grown up (in body) and would like to give these items to a fellow Coot who would want them. I only ask $15- to ship here in USA 48.

Sizes are both large. I am 46 chest, so I figure maybe 40-44 size vests. Chk out their site.

I was just looking on Gunbroker and couldn't believe that there were three Stainless 1860 Colts and one stainless 1851 Colt. I've never seen that many offered at one time. The economy must be worse than I thought and I thought it was pretty bad.

I haven`t shot cap & Ball revolver in a while ..ol fingers just haven`t been working .
But this morning , things were working right for a change .
I shot from the bench at 15 yards , useing 30 gr 3F Goex
.454 ball and a dab of Dapper Dan over 2 balls .
This is the best target out of the bunch after I figured my POA which I marked with the pen .
I`d say this Belgian is a keeper , almost sold her last month but had a change of heart , glad I did .

I went to a friend's house last night with my Savage & North. A former student of his was there with his Savage & North and his Sharps that he inherited from his grandfather. I'll bet that I was the only person in the world holding two Savage & Norths last night. His S&N was in great shape, maybe a little stiff from not being used and cleaned for awhile. I'd like to take that Sharps out to the range (I think it was a 45-70). The owner said he traced it back to the Berdan's Sharpshooters.

It's not black powder or even a revolver. I picked this up in a trade recently and figured I'd offer it here first since this is my favorite gun board and alot here are interested in alot of different history eras. It's a WW2 British Sten MK2 parts kit from international military antiques mounted on a dummy reciver. action and everything works like real and all parts except dummy reciever are vintage WW2. great display or reenactment piece I'd just rather have a steel frame 51 navy 36 or remington 44. If your interested I have more pics and can give you more details.

I had to get the wife a TV. She likes to feel safe in winter or summer from the bad weather by monitoring it on the TV. The TV went kaputtski. Had to hit Walmart and get a new kind that bolts to the wall.
Anyway I may not be able to bid on that beautiful Centennial we've been discussing down in that lower posting. The wife says I still can bid but I'm paranoid.
It looks like I won't be bidding. I may chuck it all to the wind and go for that Belgian anyway but the chance I will is real low. Real low. I may have to be satisfied with the 6 Belgians I alrady have. I can console myself with the satisfaction I get when I look at the one I got for less than $300. I think it was $235 or so for the Belgian in the pic below. All that you see is what came with it. Original Belgian wood case it came in originally. The accsessories were original to it too.

There are 2 distinctly different model's of the NMA that poses a couple of questions in my mind. 1st, there is the more common model, with a solid sail and loading lever. 2nd, there is the model with a slot cut in the sail to allow the cylinder pin to come forward to allow the swapping out of cylinders without having to drop the loading lever. Which came first? And what kept the cilinder pin in place in the open slotted configuration?

It seems to me that I saw where you could buy interchangeable rifle barrels for a Pedersoli 12 ga. shotgun. Anyone know anything about this? I would like to get a set. I love hunting with this thing. I have not used a centerfire this year yet. Knocks down doves better than my regular shotgun. Takes a longer to load and can get hurried but I'm already getting a routine down.

I finally got to go to the tomato patch by my self with out a time limit. So I took my Waynerized ASM 51 44 and my Cork Pietta G&G short barreled 44.
All the “stuff” in the truck.
A quick stop at the hardware store for a roll of duct tape and a new 10” file to cut down the new front sight on the 51.
A stop at the local butcher shop for some white cardboard boxes.
I didn’t go back in the woods where it is clear so I just had 50’ to shoot.
Started out with the Cork, it just looks too good to use just for TV watching. At 50’ it shot about 8 “ high, just like I expected it to. Hold 8” low and it put the balls right where they should be. Thanks cork.
Then I drug out the Waynerized ASM 51 44 and covered the barrel with the duct tape. Don’t want to scar up the barrel. I’ve done that before. I was using .457 balls and it cut just a little hair of a ring around the ball when it was rammed into the chamber. Leaning on a tree for a rest at 50’ it shot right on as far as up and down and 2 to 3” to the left. WOW!!!!! No filing. Little brass hammer and the sight was pecked over just a little.
Taking a rest off the tree, 4 cylinders at the cardboard, all them went into a 2.5” circle. WOW!!!!! For me that is outstanding. Shooting the cardboard lost its challenge.
Walnuts, there is a couple of little walnut trees there that drop their nuts in the clearing. From 50’ down to 10’ the 51 would splatter them into mush. Any closer than 10’ and it got on me and the truck. I could hit 4 out of 6 with it. NICE.
About an hour before I quit, it started sprinkling pretty good. No breeze what so ever. I kept my “stuff” under the shell on my truck and would reach back under there to load so it wouldn’t get wet. With all the heavy air and no wind, even the 777 left SMOKE. Some of the shots, I would have to wait to see if the walnut was there or not. I learned real quick not to breath right after a shot was fired. It just hung there.
Most fun (only fun) that I have had since last summer. Thanks Wayne.
