Did the title get your attention? Good. I've been workin' with a gent named Tony from Australia to make a Walker w/ shoulder stock and 16" bbl (we're well known w/ folks over on THR). Unfortunately he has a brain tumor that is most likely fatal so the project is dead. He purchased this gun for the project, but since the medical problem has happened his wife would like to liquidate his gun assets. It is an unfired, no roll mark, safety pin intact, commerative Texas Ranger ASM Walker w/ faux ivory handles. As a commerative, it is devoid of most all Italian proof marks. For $300.00, I'll ship it priority and insured to your address. Any offers over $275.00 will be looked at seriously. No $$ for me, he paid $292.00 on GB for it. Pic's below. By the way, on THR there is a guy named "arcticap" that has other cased commeratives (not all Walkers), of Tony's for sale, Thanks, Roland

Subject: ALERT - California Ammo Ban

Author:

Date Posted: 04:46:09 09/16/09 Wed

Forwarded to me from a friend in Calabasas.

Don't just think that because it is in California it has no impact on you. California is merely a little bit farther down the road to a Marxist Left-Wing Hell than the other states.

This crap has gotta be fought tooth and nail at every opportunity.

Carl
Badger Lake, WA

Folks,

From the NRA: Ammo Bill Going to the Governor!

Late last night AB 962, the Ammunitions Sales Restrictions bill, was approved by the Senate on a 21 to 18 vote. It was then sent back to the Assembly for concurrence.

Today the Assembly approved the bill on a 44 to 31 vote. It now goes to the Governor.

Please contact the Governor's office and urge him to VETO AB 962. Contact information is listed below.

Please both CALL and email the Governor. We need to turn on the pressure!

Remember to ask the Governor to also VETO SB 585, the Cow Palace gun show ban.

Lastly, please share this information with every firearm owner, shooter, hunter, gun range and gun club that you know and ask them to help kill these bills.

AB 962 (Kevin De León, D-Los Angeles; Bonnie Lowenthal,
D-Long Beach) – Ammunition Sales Restrictions – Even as amended, this bill would still place onerous restrictions on the purchase of ammunition. It would require all vendors to store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to buyers. It would require buyer registration and fingerprinting at the point of purchase. It would ban gun show, mail order and Internet sales.

SB 585 (Mark Leno-D San Francisco) – Firearm Sales at the
Cow Palace – This bill would prohibit the sale of firearms and ammunition at the Cow Palace. It is also the first step in banning gun shows on all publicly owned property in California.

How to contact the Governor:

The Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger
Governor of California
State of California
State Capitol Building
Sacramento, CA 95814
Phone: (916) 445-2841
Fax: (916) 558-3160 (new number)
Email: http://gov.ca.gov/interact%23email (this is a link to

Sending an email to the Governor is a two-step process. Please read the instructions on the page that opens when you use the email link.

I took the Engraved revolver I bought and posted some pics of,out and tested how it shot. It shot good. Pretty dang good.
I aimed at a tomatoe about the size mid way between a golf ball and a tennis ball at 29 paces. First shot went right over the top barely missing. Second shot wacked it with that center shot sound of "PLAT". Next four shots at the center of the red spot left there went into a groove in the dirt less than an inch wide.
Anyway it shoots as good as it looks. I tried some bench shots and I'll show a pic. I was shooting at the picnic bench in the wooded area where I couldn't see real good. Target below. All the Shoot'N'See targets I shot from the bench were close to the same size groups. The targets are 5.5 inches wide.

I went back to see the unfired Springfield and get more info. It looks better than I remembered. Still alot of blue on the metal. It's stamped NJ in one spot and TRENTON in another. The tag on it says it was issued to a guard unit but never fired. Still $2800.
Then a "salesman" came over (this is an antique shop), a Civil War "expert". After he told me about the gun (everything that was written on the tag) I asked if he had any Colt BP revolvers. He said, "You want a Remington, not a Colt. Colts are crap and they have that stupid wedge. They used to throw the Colts in the mud and grab a Remington."
Anyhoo, I told him what I thought then I walked away (lots of glass objects in this place).
So, I did not get any pics.
Beautiful gun, though. I think they might come down on the price.

That's right free parts! I bought some used RCBS reloading equipment and they have made some changes to update their case trimmers. The adjuster on the case trimmer to set the lenght now has minute markings on it to help you control the settings. I called to order some new set screws and the new adjuster and was told no charge, the parts are on the way. There was really nothing wrong with what I had, I just wanted to update to make it easier, they have a life time warranty so I guess they want to keep their customers happy. Wow, what a novel idea, keeping your customers happy, why has this idea not caught on with other companys.

I don't want to sell this gun, but financial circumstances demand that I do. This is a Remington .44 cal. New Model Army with a 5.5" barrel and also includes a Kirst .45 Colt cylinder conversion. No ffl required. I am asking $375 shipped in the contiguous USA. Will accept postal money orders or Paypal only. A part trade can be acceptable...interested only in Colt type .31 cal. revolvers, or Colt type .36 5 shot revolvers.

No, not Cork. I saw a Springfield 1863 rifle (marked 1864) in a shop last week that might be unfired. The shop owner said that he was selling it for a friend who had a Springfield collection and was going through a divorce. He said that as far as he knew it was unfired. He dropped a small flashlight backwards down the barrel and I gotta say, it looked brand new in there. The stock had a few dings on it but the barrel and metal still had alot of color to it. It definitely wasn't a repro - it looked old, but unfired. How could that be?
He was asking $2800 for it which really isn't bad considering the condition.
Maybe I'll go back and get some pics.

Anyone here be willing to trade a solid '51 Navy steel frame for two brass frames? I made a short barrel pistol out of what appears to be a Pietta frame XX8 proof date. I want one that will last me longer as I plan to shoot it alot. I also have an old Uberti frame that I can throw in too. If not trade maybe sell one?

There are 3 original pistols on Auction Arms, they are not under Black Powder they are in the everything page at the top, or just under auctions. There is an 1858, one 1849, and a Cooper Navy DOUBLE ACTION. Prices are right, right now, good looking guns, worth looking at. Check them out.

The engraved Special Edition 1861 Navy I picked up.....
It's set up to be a shooter. Trigger is creep free. Rear sight is lowered. Hammer spaced at the nose so it comes up to the nipples close but doesn't hit....dry fire safe. Bore drilled thru the barrel at a slight cant downward...centered but cants dowward thru the barrel.Shallow rifling to affect a good seal. Chambers aligned well to the bore.
All in all it should be a real good shooter besides being a real work of art with French Grey frame and hammer and profuse engraving done very masterful.
It's a trip looking at real master work in engraving. The smallest details a marvel in tool control.

I am well aware, this is BP forum, but I am sure of that most of you also like the cartridge generation such as Colt SAA since they are all in "old western gun" category.

The question is what is the boundary between old western gun and the modern guns ? Is that between single and double action ? I've seen double action in Colt SAA figure.
Some said S&W's Schofield is the last old Western gun, since it has sensational top break mechanism for fast reloading. Is it true ?

Date Posted: 11:53:04 09/07/09 Mon

I saw a hand engraved 1861 Navy in the Presentation grade yesterday at the "Swappers Meet" in Johnstown,Ohio.
It's hand engraved about 75% to 85%. It looked like one of those Special Versions built on rare occassions in Italy but I can't really tell if it is. May be a custon job by someone here in the states.
The trigger guard and backstrap were steel and finished in a dark beautiful burgandy-dark plum bluing with the engraving of course. Never saw that color bluing on a gun before. The barrel and cylinder have a bluing that shows blue in the black in the light.
The frame was totally engraved in the beautiful Nimseski(spell) style scrolls and tight small shade lines background. Loading lever had some engraved knurle on it and some scrolls. Barrel engraved with plenty of scrolls design.
There was "GOLD" inlay lines at the muzzle and around the back edge of the cylinder and designs on the barrels sides about mid way. Looked like real gold since it was not tarnished and was still really shiny.
It was a really beautiful 1861 Navy with perfect timing and alignment(little flashlite with me at the swappers meet).
Anywhoooo....I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that gun on the table with other used guns there at the Swappers Meet.
I almost traded my wife for the gun since it cost a good penny.Decided that I hadn't eaten supper yet and may want to do the Humty Bumpty later so I kept her and didn't trade her for the gun. It is custonary for a Mountain Man to trade off a sqauw for a good gun now and then. ha ha ha
Anyway I just thought I'd mention what I saw. The Special Engraved Presentation Grade 1861 Navy was the only cap&baller I saw there yesterday the few hours I was there. Didn't cover the whole grounds since it was big and so much to look at.
