Subject: little league /travel ball rule confirmed..

just talked to pete wilson, director of little league operations in williamsport pa. he said that one a playerr plays in their first tournament game, they are not allowed to play for any other organization until their little league team is eliminated from tournament competition. he said that the reason for this was that travel ball was undermining little league and also for pitching reasons. i asked him if that was the case, why are they not worried about the regular season, where the girls are allowed more innings per week than they are in allstars. he did not have an answer for that one. i then told hinm that what little league is doing is forcing a player to make a choice. he said that is correct. i asked had this rule been challenged in court? he said no, and it is and has been in the rule book. as for asoutgrowing little league, that happened last year, but in order for my girl to get the innings pitched and play during the spring, little league is the only option in this area. if we were in tennessee, california or texas to name a few, this would not ba a problem. i will have no problem letting my daughter play little league during the regular season, but come travel ball, we will gladly say goodbye to little league. by the way, pete's number is 570-326-1921
