Subject: Why are racists so concerned about the deficit?

My theory:

In the 1955-1965 period the federal government became viewed as taking the side of black people. If one were white and envisioned life as a racial contest then the federal government was on the "other" side. Note that 1960s movement conservatism (Goldwater, Reagan) was energized primarily by the civil rights acts and poverty assistance programs.

The emotional impetus of fiscal conservatism is a desire to destroy the federal government. This has been openly admitted by most movement conservatives at one time or another. The emotional reason the federal government must be destroyed is that the federal government is perceived to be the enemy of something. That something is white people.
