Subject: I do not leave an extra inch or two. The last thing I want to do is take in a dress that just arrived. I followed that advice back when we were purchasing our first couple dresses online, and then had to immediately pay another $100-150 each to have them taken in. Now that I know better, I've saved a ton of money

I have 3 daughters in solo dresses, and they're at a level where they have to stay up-to-date, but I like the assurance of seeing an actual dress rather than a rendering, so we still buy used. Get pictures of the dress with measuring tape, preferably on the dancer. And then make sure you are measuring *exactly* where the original owner measured. Be aware that a lot of dresses from overseas do not use genuine Swarovski crystals, especially for the large pears; if that is important to you, be sure to specifically ask.
