Subject: I am a college student currently living in New Orleans and I find this post laughable and offensive. There are plenty of family friendly areas in New Orleans- Uptown has a lot of cute restaurants, Audubon Park, the zoo, and more. There is also the aquarium on the river (more suggestions inside)
In reply to: . 's message, "To all those heading to NOLA some advice if you have never been. Louisiana is beautiful and the people are wonderful. However, this is really not a city for children. Surprising that it was picked after the Las Vegas backlash a few years ago?? Expect to see everything- I mean everything. Not just on Bourbon Street.... see more inside..." on 13:01:48 06/13/17 Tue

which I have not been to personally but have heard wonderful things about. There's sno ball stands all over the city which are great to help you cool off while exploring the city (my personal favorite is Imperial Woodpecker). Also Central Business District, although cheaper than food in the quarter, is far from the cheapest part of the city for food. Again, I would recommend uptown for some cheaper food options as they tend to cater to more of a student budget since the area is heavily populated with college kids (some of my favorites are Reginellis, District Donuts, Company Burger, Dat Dog, and Ba Chi). Cafe du Monde is obviously a must and walking around Jackson Square during the day is definitely a safe and fun activity for the whole family. As for the weather, keep your fingers crossed for no storms and be sure to stay hydrated if you're out in the heat. Please disregard the OPs alarmist attitude; follow the same precautions you would in any other city's downtown area and stay aware of your surroundings and you will have a perfectly safe and enjoyable stay in NOLA :)
