In reply to: No sympathy here either. 's message, "There's also Berkley and UCSF Hastings, which are state schools and much cheaper. Also, tons more right around SF where she could live at home." on 07:37:44 06/26/17 Mon

Look, I'm sure she doesn't want your sympathy, you sound like a bitter and jealous person. But don't make up stuff about how cheap state law schools are. They aren't in California, even for residents. Even the hardest working person would be hard-pressed to save $150K plus to fund law school. As a lawyer, it's one reason I caution young people about entering the profession. Most young lawyers have a lot of debt because it's expensive, there are very few scholarships for law school, and even well off parents rarely have that much discretionary income to fund grad school. That's not a plea for sympathy that's simply the facts.

So don't donate, but don't lie about the costs.

  • And the school is not "UCSF Hastings". The other law schools here are private and lower ranked (except for Stanford) and less likely to land grads a good job (NT) -- Know the facts, 10:12:50 06/26/17 Mon
  • "UC Hastings School of Law" is located in SF if you must split hairs. Berkeley is actually ranked higher than Georgetown. Going to Georgetown isn't going to guarantee a good job either. (NT) -- -, 10:47:49 06/26/17 Mon
