Subject: I'm 57, worked my butt off to go to undergrad and law school on as much scholarship money as I could get (which was a lot), worked fulltime during law school to pay expenses, and you know what? I'm NOT offended by this young woman's gofundme. It's not a Boomer vs millenial thing.
In reply to: Simple math 's message, "I'm 54 now and was brought up if you couldn't afford it you didn't do it" on 11:19:22 06/26/17 Mon

Don't want to donate? Don't donate, I don't care. I am not donating either. But what I do care about is the unreal level of cattiness this whole thread presents. There's an odd level of sniping about the fact that she's a former WC and show dancer, and quite frankly it makes posters sound like they've been drinking some bitter, jealous tea over the years that this girl was successful in ID. The overwhelming urge that OP and others apparently had to out this girl so that she could be shamed online seems obvious too - "subtweeting" - which in my household would get you banned from the Internet for months if you tried it. Teenaged girls on social media have nothing on you all. And then there's the "In my day, we walked uphill both ways in the snow" aspect to other posts. This isn't a young vs. old debate. I've seen plenty of lazy 50 somethings and lots of college-aged go-getters. Things were different in our day? maybe, but start by not tarring a complete generation or that brush might come back on you.
