Subject: They factor in the raw scores from all 7 judges after the set round. The Irish points that are used to determine the recall and which Irish points were dropped mean nothing to the end result. It is no different than if no scores were dropped.
In reply to: This is confusing 's message, "#s 9 and 12 confuse me: "After the set round the raw scores from hard shoe, soft shoe, and set dance, are added together for each individual judge." And then the highest and lowest are dropped again. Are they going back to the raw scores of the five remaining? Surely they aren't going to factor BACK in scores that have already been dropped once?" on 12:31:06 07/02/17 Sun

In a competition where no scores are dropped, they figure out the Irish points to determine the recall, but they do not use those recall Irish points at all for the final placements after the set round. The same is true here. After the set round they factor in all 7 judges scores, then drop the high and low to determine the final placements. It really is not confusing at all.

If you wait and look at the marks sheet it should all become clear to you.

  • Yes, they are using all the scores after the set. This is because scores dropped for the recall are not erased, simply not used to determine the dancers rank at the recall. (NT) -- .., 13:44:30 07/02/17 Sun
  • In which case all the "this is the fairest way, it does away with all the anomalies" isn't really true at all when it comes to final results. This seems like a half and half system. Highs and Lows dropped in some places, but not others. (NT) -- Odd, 14:13:38 07/02/17 Sun
