Thinking about those who can barely place at a feis, can't make top five at own O's, dance wild, straight feet, and not even get up on toes but somehow is top ten or even top five? Can't really say they "brought it" or "danced outstandingly" Just looked like a hot mess on stage.

But that dancer has the requisite headpiece and TC working stage and manages top five or top ten?

It's so very clear that certain TCs make it their business to go to the podium with a "question", just when own dancer about to go on stage or to go and "clean" stage. Or manages to "work" the stage, and pauses comps in front of own dancers and then "clarifies" things with the panel.

it's so tiresome and one would think the dancer would be embarrassed about getting a placement that is not truly deserved (talking about an older dancer, here), but no, goes about flaunting the placement and does an entire charade of surprise on stage. That's what was embarrassing for the rest of the comp to watch, because they all knew the placement wasn't really deserved. It really sours others when this happens.

Then there are those judges who will deliberately take a dancer out of top with extra low scores and if there are two from the same school or region on a panel with the same intent? It doesn't matter if high and low are dropped, because the extra low score by the second takes out the dancer. Take a look at the raw scores of some of the comps from NANS. For example, on a panel of seven, how can five top 10 scores, 3 of which in top 5, then have two scores down about 45? There is no explaining that amount of discrepancy, even with a panel of seven- over 35 places? That's why standards are needed, that's way too much "subjectivity".

Unfortunately or rather fortunately, this is reserved to just a few TCs who keep trying to work the system and one can hope they are either moving on, or improving on their personal "subjectivity." So refreshing to see that many others let the dancing do the talking on stage.
