Subject: I agree. We walked over to the venue from Embassy Suites (~10 minute walk) 3 mornings around 6:30am. We had to literally walk around homeless people sleeping sideways across the sidewalks. With such a large percentage of the homeless population having some sort of mental illness, it just didn't feel safe.
In reply to: disappointed 's message, "I don't think we can "sum it all up" so easily. We must recognize that families had varying experiences. Mine was negative (attempted pickpocketing). Just as I understand that some had a great time, you should recognize that others didn't. Sweeping generalizations don't help." on 09:28:56 07/13/17 Thu

We chose different routes each time, but it was the same thing every time. My nephew has a mental illness, is homeless, and refuses to come in off the streets, so I do have some understanding of the difficulty. He also has had several run-ins with the law, and they were not all for peaceful reasons. It was a lonely walk at that hour, and with it being myself and my little dancers, it could have been worse. I wish there could have been some sort of shuttle service available.
