Subject: The above poster went on about "historical' data and all, actual numbers fluctuate far more. The point of all the above, in order to have a better handle on the possible, actual numbers that could be entered based on known variables (O's qualifications, judging conflicts, rollovers, etc); that can't be done until January. You talk about 'tweaking"
In reply to: smh 's message, "You make no sense. To create a day-only schedule, you need rough estimates. I can tell you right now that GU8 will have 80-100 competitors, while GU16 will have around 300. That is what you need to create a days-only schedule. Specific rooms and competitions can be tweaked before an actual time schedule us released." on 07:07:52 07/25/17 Tue

Let's just say for example, they schedule U14, U15, and U16, along with U13 all for the same day for five ballrooms.

Each ballroom can hold up to 500 people at any given time; but that really isn't that much of a factor at this point, but if you have 300+ dancers with at least one parent? You've already exceed fire codes, haven't you? (that's another factor that needs to be accounted for with scheduling competitions, or did you overlook that?)

Lets' just say U14 has an entry of 345, U13 has 350, U15 has 325, and U16 has 360.

Four age groups - split, that's 8 competitions. Do the timing; each would take about 6 hours to complete. That ties up 5 ballrooms - what are you going to do about the other 3 groups that day?

However, looking at actual, possible number of qualifiers, and taking into account the variables of judging and all, the committee can see where the numbers will fall and better accommodate all the dancers on the days provided. The committee would have seen that the possible number of entries for say, U13 could have been in excess of 350, and so on, and have a far better idea of where to schedule them.

The fear would be the backlash should a schedule come out, be in error after the numbers are figured out, for all of you who are demanding a schedule now would be up in arms and going after the committee for the error. Can you imagine that?

To all you armchair experts, maybe you should work with what is available now, there's enough for you.
