Subject: Speaking about NANs in particular, I think people forget that the committees rely on a certain number of participants to keep things affordable. (Can't speak for Worlds, as the one time she qualified, we couldn't afford to go)

If the criteria are tightened to drastically lower the numbers of dancers in competitions, less money is received in registrations, less blocked rooms are filled (which can lead to the venue costs going up), etc. The economics aren't that simple. The only thing I could see as a change is to either require a dancer to qualify for NANs at their Oireachtas OR place top half in an OC competition. Tracking this sure would be a headache for TCRGs and NANs organizers though. Personally, I think the system is fine the way it is.
