Subject: Having over 350 dancers in an age group for a "national" is somewhat overkill, isn't it? Same with the Worlds, there's simply way too many for those levels. A primary can weed out, and base it on percentages to qualify
In reply to: Same with some regions 's message, "Not sure that's the answer, as it's already harder to go to Nan's that's any other secondary in the world. Other countries can feel free to pad the bottom. Seems like not right to further punish the dancers just because they live in a larger, more populous places." on 16:30:24 08/01/17 Tue

The primary can be both a Worlds qualifier and a "national" qualifier (national for those countries who hold them, and NANS in NA).

For Worlds, only the top 10% qualify to attend. If 50 in the comp, then 5 qualify, if 100 in the comp, then 10 qualify. No skipping of anyone.

For a national, the top 30% qualify to attend, period. So, if there are 100 in the comp, the 30 qualify, regardless of being OC or PC. Kind of like what is already in place, but, keeping it fair for all.

Need to drop the automatic qualification to go to NANS for OC dancers. Many stop attending feiseanna once they get into OC and only do the regional and national, because those are automatic. Would also add that dancers have to compete in at least four feiseanna in order to attend the regional, too, PC or OC.

Something needs to be done regarding the numbers. When the current system was put into place about 10 (=/-) years ago, they did not anticipate the numbers that some age groups have climbed to. The scoring system can't keep up with the numbers and it is also why there are so many discrepancies in the scoring and placings. Along with setting up a better way of controlling numbers, a standard in scoring needs to be set up.

There is so much to be considered and there is no easy answer for any of this. I am sure that CLRG is trying to review all of this, but change is slow, as there are many opinions and viewpoints to be considered.
