Subject: When I read the OP, I assumed they were talking about (e.g.) playing a jig at open speed (73) rather than beginner speed (96) - rather than 1 or 2 BPM's difference. Watching a young dancer trying to dance their 96 jig at 73 is PAINFUL, the poor souls, and judges should notice this.

1 or 2 BPM makes no difference and in all honestly it makes little difference in light shoe dances - a beginner reel can be danced equally well at 124 as 113.
