Subject: And please remember not everyone here is from the US, as well. In the UK we SHOULD be dancing fast and slow speeds in hardshoe but that is
In reply to: long-time dancer/stage manager 's message, "if I had a dollar for each time a dancer hasn't known if they were dancing fast or slow hardshoe while checking them in/trying to line them up... (especially the younger kids or the ones that just moved up) feising might be a bit more affordable ;)" on 07:57:14 08/10/17 Thu

a) a fairly new concept b) not adhered to by all regions. Southern region kids come to the Midlands expecting to dance jig at 96 and end up with 73 - and when that's never happened to you before, and you're in beginner grade, and you're 9, what are you REALLY going to do about it?! Have we forgotten what it was like to be a nervous kid - they keep dancing and keep struggling, of course they do. Have seen some nice judges give dancers a second chance and ask for the correct speed, but not all will do this.

  • Then that's on the TC to ensure the dancers know what speed they are dancing when competing. Musicians aren't clarviyant to know that are they? They play what they are told by the feis. (NT) -- Observation, 09:28:38 08/10/17 Thu
