Subject: This may seem like an odd post, but in reality, it's absolutely true that peers will and do make comments about kids who compete out of region and what their motives are.
In reply to: Planning 's message, "Will DD be considered less if she gets her 1sts for OC at feises in an "easier" region than our home region?" on 11:48:51 08/22/17 Tue

A few years back, my DD wanted to compete in a different region. Her comps are always small and always the same people. We have close friends that live in another region that also dance, so we opted to make a long weekend out of it and compete in their region. Maybe it was the friends, maybe it was competitors she knew nothing about, but she won her comp and gained a lot of confidence in the process. A few dancers snickered she went for an easy win and how easy that region is. Funny thing is, those same dancers competed in the same region, same state, same feis, one year later. Never stopped talking about how many top 10 NANs dancers would be there and what a tough comp they had.

In truth, there is no "easy" region, no "easy" route. It is disrespectful to assume there is less talent in any of the regions.
