Subject: Logistically, that would be hard for feises that don't split boys/girls in comps (to provide belts for boys and sashes for girls, I mean). The boys in our classes seemed happy enough with the sashes.

They seldom split comps in our region. Boys and girls compete together. It is nice when they don't give boys a trophy with a girl dancer on top. One feis had this special where the prize was this fancy doll. A boy won... he was a good sport about it and said he would give his sister the doll. The feis was apologetic about it... but I guess it was a tradition to have a doll as the prize for this special. What would be a male equivalent for that sort of prize? It's hard to come up with something...I guess that is why a lot of feises just stick with trophies.
