Author: you don't get it
Subject: To the above posters, unfortunately, you missed the point of the above poster, who is correct. What is written as "rules' is open enough for TCs to place dancers accordingly; however, as the poster clearly stated as well, the majority of TCs do follow what is written. There is no penalty stated for moving a dancer to a level w/o whatevers.
In reply to: hth 's message, "You are wrong when you say, "rules always have some sort of penalty for breaking them." In my state there are even laws that have no penalty. They are poorly written laws with no teeth, but they are laws all the same. The definition of rule does not include penalties, it doesn't even have to be written to be a rule." on 08:41:56 08/26/17 Sat

There is the statement "should a dancer..." and then the subsequent remaining at ...

Nowhere does it clearly say "a teacher cannot move a dancer to xxx level without xxx" nor is there is a statement "if a teacher moves a dancer to xxx level without xxx, then xxx will happen"

As for the whole statement of moving with whatever is in place, due to the differences of regional requirements, it allows for TCs to move dancers by having them compete in other regions.

To be precise and clear, then there should be specific wording or one, set standard for all regions. And simply - there. isn't. Period.

The above poster was correct that TCs rarely do it, but there have been instances in the past where dancers were moved up levels without any requisites. With the technology that is present today, it hasn't happened all that often in recent years, but the rules are vague enough to allow TCs to place a dancer where they see fit.

There are some schools who don't have dancers really compete in grades, yet somehow show up in PC comps. And there are other schools who might have dancers compete in PC, get a first and have then moved the dancer to OC, using some out of the way feis that doesn't post results and there are many who still don't.

So, being in full agreement with the above poster. And realise that you will also attack this as well. Have a go at it, but you know it's true.Dancers are moved up levels, from grades to champs without getting the placements, whether you like it or not - it happens. And there's very little you can do about it.

So, go ahead, attack this post, too, because that's all you can do, because you won't change how things go in ID.
