Subject: The COVID vaccine and the yearly flu shot we get are not the same thing.
In reply to: just saying 's message, "How many of you still had the flu after getting a flu shot? It just wasn't as bad as if you didn't have a flu shot. How many flu strains out there? Countless! It's a virus. It is not bacterial and as with any virus, it has to run its course (hello! Flu?). Or did the world forget that?" on 07:05:42 08/12/21 Thu

There are many different kinds of "flu"... different each year... Each year, when they develope the Flu shot, they make an educated guess on which strains they think will be the most prevelant during the coming flu season. If you get the flu shot, then you will be protected, or partially protected from the strains of flu that were included in that years flu shot. No one is pretending that you will be protected from ALL flu strains on any given year. Some years they do better than other years.

The COVID vaccine was developed for a specific disease. One that developed into something that was much more dangerous than the other common strains of flu.

I also think it is a completley different type of Vaccine, than the type we get for our yearly "flu shot".

It is also worth noting that the increased hand washing, social distancing and wearing Masks did drastically reduce the number of flu cases last year.

I work with kids, and even though I get a flu shot every year, I almost always end up getting some sort of nasty virus or flu each year, as do other members of my family. We've been strict on masking in public over the last year and half and no one in my household has had a cold or flu since before the shutdowns.... so just ancedotaly, it sure seems like the masking helps keep the germs away!
