In reply to: Please explain. 's message, "Why do so many people change their daughter’s hair color to blonde for a feis?" on 06:13:58 09/11/21 Sat

Reasons:

1) Dancers want to change their look periodically to avoid adjudicators recognizing them and being biased based on past performances that may have been less stellar than desired.

2) Certain hair colors work best for particular dress colors.

3) A dancer may have a hair hue that is difficult to match to a wig (This tends to be a bigger issue if the dancer has highlights).

4) They enjoy changing their hair color periodically simply for a change.

5) Why does it even matter? It's a personal preference.

Replies:

  • I always heard it was because judges like blondes better. (NT) -- 🤷🏻‍♀️, 09:23:56 09/11/21 Sat
  • I've heard the opposite. The darker hair is more typical for people who are true Irish and supposedly there is bias towards it. Who knows (NT) -- To each their own!, 10:33:57 09/11/21 Sat
