Tony,

This might sound odd but the leafs that have fallen on the yuccas protect the crown. You can't see it with all the snow on top, but there are tree leafs in between the yucca leafs. And they do a very good job keeping the crown dry. I'll try and find a photo to show you what I'm talking about. But I still cover them, this one I didn't see coming. I woke up about 6am & the snow was already there LOL!
