The Problem:
Solar Power is very expensive but the price can drop rapidly with rapid expansion. There is plenty of places to put solar panels that can generate quite a bit of electricity.

The Social Invention:
I live in Houston and being a very hot city with access to one of the largest shipping ports in the world there is a ton of warehouses. They are literally everywhere. These warehouses are very large and there is not any tree cover or any other shading potential for these large buildings. This is prime real estate for solar power. Placing solar panels on these buildings is not only a great potential revenue stream for the building owners, but it will also help them keep their buildings cooler in the summer. Taking the direct sunlight away from the room of the building can help significantly lower the temperature inside the building.

A small electric company could come in and rent the roofs of these large buildings. The rent could be paid by some kind of profit sharing arrangement. Or the rent could be paid in energy produced.
