I am a student at Humboldt State University in California. My major is Environmental Technology. I am currently starting to get into the manufacturing of bio-diesel. It is already being done at a non-profit organziation that I am involved with called Campus Center for Appropriate Technology. As far as bio-deisel goes, what we do there is use our campus cafeteria used cooking oil and transesterfy into biodeisel. This fuel can be used in diesel engines and generators. It produces far less emissions than petrolium fuel. It is completely non-toxic. THe only by product is gylcerol, which can be made into soap. Please contact me as there might be people already involved in this in your area.
