Friendly City Association

Who we are?

It is a great pleasure for us to present ourselves and introduce our association to every reader of this short information.
Friendly City Association (FCA) is a voluntary association that has been established in order to popularise aims conformable with ecological style of life. It was created as a spontaneous reaction for some steps taken by group of people, that didn’t pay attention to the effects of their activities in a natural environment. Thus it is an organisation that was developed as a need of a moment, and it wasn’t organised by higher authorities.
Reaction for all negative results of human activities in a natural setting is our main goal as an association. We want to oppose to an attitude, which is still approved that nature is failing in a battle with economics and free market rules. Because of that also all citizens lose and in case of an evident damage they have a very long way to prove it and to show that they have any rights to protest.
At the moment FCA has 34 members. We have main goals that are comprised and clearly put in the statutes. The goals are:
 Human rights protection and law-abidingness
 Care for family
 Preservation of nature
 Preservation of national heritage
Our goals are conformable with rules of any ecological organisation. But what is very important is to remember that FCA especially has in consideration activities taken up in a local setting, which we perceive as the closest and first experience for all people in their daily life. So we can say that we act in accordance to a rule: “Think globally, act locally”.
We concentrate ourselves on a terrain of Warsaw City District and its neighbourhood, but we are also readily open to share our experiences and exchange opinions with other organisations that act outside our borders.

What are the main directions of co-operation with other associations?

FCA doesn’t want to be an isolated and separate from other structures of this type in Poland and Europe. We want to establish contacts with other associations. This will let to ex change opinions and share ideas.
FCA is very eager to develop such co-operation in three main dimensions:
 Statutes-like activities; exchange of information concerning realisation of the goals included in the statutes
 Environment monitoring; this part of our activities is especially important as it clearly points at the profile of the association; we want to take care of the way our natural environment is treating and be present and helpful everywhere where rules of sustainable development are violated; we are also eagerly interested in making contacts with other associations, which lead similar activities; experiences exchange in this sphere would be very precious; we also have a plan to establish our own system of monitoring that would be completely independent from other, public structures of this type
 Building of a new structure of information circulation in a local environment; we want to popularise and implement basic rules of electronic democracy; this question seems to be crucial as obtaining of information about abnormalities that occur in a local environment is a basis for taking any activities; what we observe is shortage of easy obtainable information; internet could be a source of quick and full information
We hope that we have succeeded in arousing interest in our association!
We are really very interested in establishing contacts with other foreign organisations. We realise that in an era of globalisation any activities taken strictly in own, isolated setting will not be as fruitful as these taken up in a common way. That is why we put such an emphasis on local links and contacts with other locally oriented organisations.
We are really open for all kinds of co-operation.
This short letter is only to encourage for further contacts with us. We are ready to give more detailed information about association for anyone who will be interested in collaboration with us.
We are waiting for yours e-mails!

The Chairman of the Board

The member of the Association
