And you probably spent your four years on the hill in Dinand...
Yes I know we have a women's program and my assesment of it is that they a lot of former figure skaters with pent up frustrations and they are trying to play ice hockey. A women's team at HC is never going to take off with the other real quality programs within New England.
Watch your comments about football!

Women's Ice Hockey in general is an up and coming sport for female athletes. You'd be suprised how good HC could get at it with the necessary support (of course support is the operative word.)

An example:

Colgate took it's club team to varsity D-III in 99-00 and went 21-4. It's first game of the year was a loss to D-I power St. Lawrence 8-0. In 02-03 we went D-I and went 12-21-1. Growing pains to be expected of course. Last year we went 16-17-3. Not too bad for a 5 year old program and only a 2nd year in D-I. The real highlight is in the ECAC playoffs, Colgate defeated nationally ranked St. Lawrence 1-0 in the second game at SLU.

The point is that the women's sport is still very much growing and the "established" powers are by no means untouchable. In fact, now is the time to make the move into the sport as it begins to take off.

Looking at the great schools that offer ice hockey, if I had a little girl at home, I'd be putting some skates on her and teaching her how to shoot!

colgate 13's got it right. Of all schools, Brown University has one of the best ladies hockey teams in the country and they aren't good at anything other sport.
