Man can you guys can take a post and just blow the hell out of it. I am generally in Read-only mode and only make an occasional comment, but your response to this fairly innocent post makes me want to exclusively read! That said, I’ll jump right back in the pool now.

The ACC “Series” I believe was intended to mock the suggestion and highlight it as a pipe dream in a subtle way - apparently too subtle for some.

Sports Talk Radio and forums like this exist because that's what sports fans talk about - stuff that did happen, stuff that should have happened, and stuff that might/could happen!

Lately, this board has dwelled way too much on stuff that did or did not happened 20 – 25 years ago. It also dwells too much on one thing many here want to happen - get out of the PL, without any suggestions of how to get there.

I was trying to get away from the PL sucks let’s get the hell out now theme. To take this thread and turn it into the PL sucks and we can never do anything to improve our lot in life until we get out is as wrong headed as the thinking that you criticize the HC admin for - the PL is fine and we don't have to change anything.

My intent in starting this thread was/is an attempt to discuss one opportunity, however remote, to make progress along the current path Men’s BB is on. Surprisingly enough, doing something like this may even lead to other opportunities and eventually get HC to the point of getting out of the PL.

Do we have to make the call? Of course. But, in our current situation, the answer to setting up games like this is always no, if WE don't ask. In my opinion, this situation seemed to be a marginal fit for both schools. However …

It’s been well documented here that Ralph Willard wants to upgrade HC’s schedule through HOME & HOME series with schools from better conferences with better programs. This fits that bill.

SC wants a road game, I presume, to upgrade its OCC schedule. No one can claim that the OCC schedule SC played last year even with Richmond, Temple, and SW Missouri was strong given 8 games at home with an average RPI of 260.

HC has averaged a 160 RPI since Ralph Willard arrived and twice in the last 4 years has been a 50 – 100 RPI (61 in 2003, and 85 in 2001). There is a remote possibility of a fit that is worth the cost of a phone call. Add HC and another 100 – 150 RPI on the road instead of 250+ RPI Campbell, Navy, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, Appalachian State at home and you have upgraded your schedule, RPI and seeding potential.

Do any of us know how desperate Dave Odom is or is not to improve his Road OCC schedule? Do any of us really know what it will take to make this or any other game like it happen?

Of course not. That’s why I said speculation in the first line of my post! And was hoping others might want to speculate too, not just say hell no won’t happen.

What might it take to make it happen, in the current situation?

OK, I’ve gone on long enough for now, time to get back to work!

Discuss it, bash away, or just ignore it now if you want. Just don’t mock it by posting facetious replies that others will take as fact that the AD will have to deny.

Have a great weekend all!
