Great great article... I am not a follower of HC football however as this year unfolded I became intrigued with it. Im sure it certainly was not easy for anyone going thru the season to see the proverbial forest thru the trees but in the end Im sure many of the students gained a life experience they will have with them forever. They say that every season is a lifetime and this season was a trying one. I am often critical of the HC contingent for wearing "rose colored glasses" however I say this without hesitation: I have yet to visit a campus that has the emotional attachment to the school as the people Ive met at HC. I may not agree with you, in fact we disagree more often then not, but one thing for sure is I appreciate the family atmosphere that exists. Whether the basketball program gets to the NCAA tournament, whether a team presses, its all really petty compared to the support that is there during crisis. I can't get over how genuine the feelings are about the school and the participants. Hearing the story about Coach Allen is truly heartbreaking because the guy loved to coach and loved football. Once that was impossible it was like taking the keys to the car away.... I didnt know coach Allen, couldnt tell you if he was a good football coach or not, but I have heard he was a great person, great father, and great husband...For that he was a perfect fit at the College of the Holy Cross.
