" The Hart Center Basketball Court seating will be improved with replacement chairs. The existing chairs have been failing and parts are no longer available to make the necessary repairs. The bleachers and bench type seating will remain unchanged. "

Last time I was in the arena ( 1998 ) the old wooden floor rollaway bleachers looked pretty ratty. Too bad they can't be replaced with the new type stuff I've seen elsewhere that are aluminum with rows of sturdy plastic seats that fold up neatly when the bleachers are retracted. These existing old bleachers as well as the bench seating upstairs are not fan-friendly on the tookiss or for those of us older grads who have back problems.

Also too bad a grand or two can't be found to simply paint the interior walls purple/grey/white as opposed to that inexplicable orange and white scheme.

I would think even Patriot League level recruits find the Hart Center unattractive as a venue these days.

I agree whole heartedly with the color scheme thought, Rick.

I hope they thought of that when they decided to purchase the new seats and at least the new seats are purple. That would much better than the yellow scheme in there now.

In fact, I would prefer to see a major upgrade (even within the existing Hart framework), but would settle for a low cost facelift of the Hart BB facility. Like you said paint, add some banners to recognize men & women BB achievements (not just the NIT & NCAA) and achievers.

Over time - Upgrade the existing breachers over time. Better sound system (I can never tell what the PA announcer is saying and it always sounds like he's yelling!)

Think I'll drop an e-mail to somebody while I'm thinking of it. Thanks for the inspiration.

Even by PL standards, the Hart is outdated. I've seen some elementary school gyms in central MA that are more attractive and have better amenities.

I agree with the wooden bleechers. Try sitting on them for a double header? You can barely walk after. There also no row for steps to walk up or down. The sound system is gross!

And how about investing in a new scoreboard? One that can call the opponent by their name and not: "GUEST"! That was great for the 60's

The two biggest needs at the Hart Center are a new scoreboard & a new sound system. You cannot understand the PA announcements if you sit in the chair seats.

I'll throw in a few bucks for a couple of gallons of purple Sherwin Williams...
