I saw on the news a few years ago that some indian tribes got so tired of having their stereotypes used for sporting mascots (indians, chiefs, redskins, etc.) that they decided to fight fire with fire.

They proposed names for their own sporting teams, such as the Fighting White-ise, Pie Eyes, Pale Skins, etc. I thought it was a fantastic response but I don't know if they actually went through with it.

The name Fighting Whites was actually well received and there was no uproar from the intended victims. I think it still exists.
