HC does appear to be in good financial shape relative the schools you mentioned. Booster clubs will also help.
Among Catholic schools we seem to be in a better financial position endowment-wise both in absolute terms and per student (believe HC has the smallest enrollment). Here are some 2003 numbers. I do not have endowment per student number or know how much debt each school has. Georgetown, for example, has a lot due their hospital finance woes.
Georgetown 591 million
Holy Cross 350 million
Marquette - 203 million
Depaul -- 192 million
Villanova -- 174 million
S. Hall -- 162 mllion
Providence -- 97 million
St. Joe's -- 74 million

these schools that sponsor fewer teams are subsidizing them at a higher level than hc, i.e. with partial schollies. i dont see hc changing their policy either; but we all agree they need to be more competitive in these minor sports or their continued affiliation with pl should be re-examined.
