If Gonzaga can do it so can HC. Using Fordham as an example to follow is a poor one. Their standards for athletes are far below that of the PL. The recently accepted a FB player with an 890 SAT. And, I don't think the posters on this board (all 20 of them) are necessarily representative of HC alum and friends. You want to be entertained and/or get bragging rights. HC wants to educate which is the way it should be. If athletic success comes along also, fine. I don't have the figures but, I would like to know what the HC basketball budget is, including scholarhsips, as compared to that of Syracuse, UConn, Villanova. Maybe someone has the figures or can give an educated estimate.

Do you know one person's identity on this board? Have you ever spoken to one of the posters? If I'm asked the question the answers are "yes, many of them."

There is absolutely no basis for your overbroad characterization of the posters here:

You want to be entertained and/or get bragging rights.

There are plenty of parents of Holy Cross graduates, including myself, who post here. Believe me, none of us sent our sons and daughters to Holy Cross with the expectation that the return on tuition would be entertainment or bragging rights. The quality of education proided is what drew our children to Holy Cross. There are plenty of alumni who are extremely generous to the school who post here who are interested in athletics but all realize the nature of Holy Cross and its mission.

It doesn't take a statistics major to tell us that the posters do not constitute a representative sample of HC alumni and friends.

Sounds like you are making the same agrument I am. I'm glad to see that you and others value the education higher than the sports. BTW, I don't think I over characterized many of the posters. Take a look at previous posts and you will find many that think BB should rule at Cross.

"The (fordham) recently accepted a FB player with an 890 SAT."

i would be willing to bet a month's salary that colgate has AT LEAST one football player with an 890 score. all PL schools will have a football player or two (or more) in this range.

for someone who posts as much as you do gate raider, i'm afraid you really aren't in touch with how things work at your school at all. so for your own sake, please give it a rest.

One can have a C average in high school and still get a 1200 on the SAT, and that is what counts.

Colgate does not have one player with an 890 or worse. Maybe a 1050. Do you realize the average SAT in the US is 1,000.

"Maybe a 1050."

sure. here's a suggestion gate raider - get to know your athletic director and have a frank conversation with him about this...

the result will be that you'll realize what a fool you've made of yourself in proclaiming that the lowest SAT score on the colgate football team was 1050. no division 1 or division 1 AA football team in the country, patriot league, ivy league, or any other league can legitimately make that claim. anyone close to a program can back me up on this.

I can tell you that no football player on Colgate's team has a SAT score that is 890 or lower. I said maybe 1050. I am sure not below a 1000. I think you need to get closer to those in the know. Perhaps your "in the know, close to the program" friends have dated information. And, to respond to the previous remark by the HC parent, I do not know any poster on this board and, frankly, there are some that would not care to meet.

In your post, you indicate that you have knowledge that all patriot league schools have one or more players with an SAT score of 890 or lower. Could you please tell us, without divulging any names, exactly how many players each school has in that category. I believe that will end all the posts about which schools are doing what. Thanks in advance for the information.
