Subject: one more pl embarrassment to come

the pl's tenuous division i status will again be on display this weekend when tenn meets colgate in the women's game - let's hope pat summitt has some mercy as she can name the score, and it could get very ugly which would only further secure the pl as (one of) america's worst div. 1 conferences.
anyone who really looks at the overall sports programs at ivy and patriot schools will see that there is no comparison.
i'm not saying we're not staying in div.i, but some serious improvement across the board would be welcomed from this fan, (thank goodness for colgate's football team, the only bright spot so far in 03-04)

that HC is not in the ECAC. If you were you would be at the bottom of the barrel in that sport, too. If you guys get in the ECAC for hockey (which, I believe, is HC's desire), will you complain about that league as well when you finish at the bottom?

Sorry to not join in your diatribe, Gate Raider. On my way into the office this morning I ran into the Colgate Hockey Team walking around downtown Albany. I wished the kids well and good luck and they responded very graciously. A fine representation for the school. Albany is alive for the ECAC tourney this weekend and the NCAA's next. These Colgate kids and their classmates are getting a great experience and it is that type of experience that I wish for HC hoop, plain and simple. I would also like to see HC Hockey go to the ECAC if the chance presented itself as surely if a PL hoop school like Colgate can withstand the taint of academicly inferior schools in hockey, so can the Cross. I believe however our hoop ought to be like your hockey, a signature program rather than a Division 2+ PL program.

If a fine academic institution like Colgate can be competitve in major hockey, why can't the Cross be competitive in hoop in a real D1 Conference, be it the A 10 or the MAAC? What are they doing that we are not?

Hey, kudos to colgate for making it.

Besides, our women always get killed in the tourney, by 20-30 points. How's that any worse than what colgate could do?

Why is everyone so quick to call Lehigh's playin game an embarrassment and Colgate's women's pending game a potential embarrassment? Can their games be anymore embarrassing then our loss to D3 Williams on our home court? It's no wonder other schools think we are a bunch of whiners, we are.

'96: loss to Old Dominion by 27
'98: loss to La. Tech by 28
'99: loss to Duke by 28
'00: loss to Rutgers by 21
'01: loss to Florida by 32
'03: loss to Penn State by 31

Average loss margin: 28.7 points

Last two non-HC PL tourney reps:
'02: Bucknell lost to Baylor by 24
'04: Colgate lost to Tennessee by 23

Average loss margin: 23.5 points (22.1% better than HC avg.)

Maybe HC is holding back the PL, and not vice versa.

Nice job by Colgate holding its own against a #1 seed.

Colgate gave Tennessee a good game; obviously the Vols are bigger and better and won, but Pat Summitt sure didn't look happy at what Colgate's defense was doing to her offense.

Purplehaze seems to be one more example in a long line of Crusaders dishonoring their school on this board. Will the Sader who was calling Beth Combs a nice little lady who had no idea how to run a DI program please identify themselves?

Good memory, I've always remembered that comment as one of the most classless and condescending posts on any of the PL boards. But now it looks like her teddy bear collection also includes a couple more trophies. Too bad that fan never stepped up to the plate and apologized.
