HC and Colgate have about 2800 students each.
That equates to 14.48 % of the student body for Colgate vs. 91 % for HC.
Well... is this a great measuring stick? Is Colgate better supported than, say, the Knicks b/c the Knicks don't draw 800,000 people per game (10% of NYC population)?
Agree that area population may be a factor, but not quite a straight line factor... but HC did draw six times as many fans per game than 'gate, and 'gate never drew even 1,000 to a game this season.
I mentioned this before and will again. At the Colgate - American women's BB championship game at Hamilton the attendance figure was about 2,200. Thus, it appears attendance is influenced by the quality of the team. All 'gate hockey games this year were packed with about 2,200 in attendance. As for football, there is no comparison. Colgate's attendance overwhelmed that of HC. The last FB game of the season when HC could have ended 'gate's winning streak HC had about 150 there and that is counting the band. The Colgate side of the stands was full.
