Subject: Time to Move On

I think it is time to move on from the postings below and restart the discussions centered around HC athletics like this board is intended to do. We have all seen issues with the Patriot League, there are merits to joining other leagues (Ivy, MAAC, and A-10 were mentioned) but the point of this message board is to discuss HC athletics...let's do that. I'll get off my soap box now...
How about those Hockey Players!!! Anybody can beat anybody on any given day...go Crusaders! No matter the result this Friday, you guys had one hell of a season!

Well, given your posting name,'Football Alum', would you care to offer your personal experience/opinion on Coach Allen*? Do you think that HC was correct in relieving him of his duties? What was your opinion of his staff, especially those that will be working for Coach Gilmore?

*does anyone out there know anything about Dan's health vis-a-vis how it was 3-4 months ago?

Initially, I was very upset with Holy Cross in relieving Coach A. Having played for him, I know him to be a very intense, loyal, hard-working, energetic, enthusiastic (you get the picture) coach. He is not only a great coach but a great man. After taking a step back and evaluating the situation, he really couldn't coach anymore. Holy Cross did the right thing by not firing him and allowing him to collect disability and retain his benefits for him and his young family.
I spent a day with Coach last August and was amazed the physical differences in him even since the dinner we had for him last April. I saw him towards the end of the season and he looked about the same as in August. For him being around the guys and the other coaches provides him a huge lift spiritually and mentally. He hasn't improved lately and unfortunately the disease continues to rob him of more and more of him.
I like the fact that Gilmore retained Pedone and Griffin. These two guys are quality coaches and will definitely continue to work towards winning ways. Overall I liked the staff. We never gave up. Nobody accepted losing. We all wished we won more games...we were so close in so many of them. Too bad close only counts in hand grenades and horse shoes.
I think that answers your questions Tim...

Yes, thanks very much. We share the same thoughts on the subjects covered, with my viewpoint a far less informed one than yours.
