If I could not go, mom usually would give me some warmed prune juice mixed with Castoria. Only if that failed, did she use a bulb and, when I was older, a bag. We talked about things in general and not the enema except she asked me if I needed to go yet a few times. Nothing special. Not really embarassing. She gave many enemas a day at work and it was not unusual for her at all. She treated it as routine and so did I.
