Diane is probably right. SSEs iritate your insides, and without a warm water (or sea salt-baking soda) rinse, you colon may continue in spasms. Even when I'm insanely plugged up and need a stronger enema, I still go pretty light on the soap. A year or so ago I began using Conti Castile, a bar soap that also contains olive oil. Works well for me, very comfortable. However, it's a good idea to take a second enema with a soda mix. You may not always feel like doing it, but it is soothing to your insides.
