A few weeks ago I noticed my five year old son Tommy
had a problem....even though he didn't say it,I recognised
that look on his face (I'd seen it before with my two
daughters). When I questioned him I soon realised that he
was most likely very blocked up inside and the situation
definitely called for an enema!
He'd never had one before and I could see that he was very
scared. I didn't use force....just left the room and asked
my eldest girl Tracy (9) to see if she could help.
She really was wonderful! She went in put her arm around
him and had a little talk (she'd already had 3 previous
enemas)....she even agreed to let me give her a small enema
right there in front of him, so he could see there was
no harm in it. He stood there,wide-eyed, as I lubed her
anus and inserted the nozzle.
As I started pumping the liquid in, I could see his fear
was changing to curiosity (particulary when he saw her on
the toilet). When she was finished she smiled at him and
said "See Tommy,it's like I told you...the enema won't
hurt you...it'll just help you to go."
This seemed to have a considerable calming effect on him
and he didn't resist when I told him to lie on his side
on the bed and pull his legs up. He never cried when I
lubed him and inserted the nozzle. Using a mild solution of
baby soap and olive oil, I suceeded in getting five squirts
into him with my Higginson, before he started to squirm.
I immediately withdrew the nozzle and pressed his cheeks tightly together. He was only able to retain it for about
7 minutes (Tracy helped by massaging his tummy)....I could
see he was desperate to expell, so I let him go.
Although quite a lot came out, I wasn't quite satisfied, so
I asked him if he could take some more...he agreed, so I
syringed him again, and this time I was really amazed at
what came out! Tracy sat there and held his hand the whole
time. Sometimes the presence of an older sibling can make
all the difference. So far my kids haven't had as many enemas as my sister and I had when we were young, but if there is a real need for it then my syringe will be ready!
