 My mom didn't know. She just took preventive action and called me and my siblings, one at a time, into the bathroom where she had soapy water and a bulb syringe ready. We laid over her lap, received a few bulbfuls, expelled, and went on our way -- with her conscience clear that her children weren't constipated!
