Recently friend of mine who was near becoming an alcholic was advised by her internist to go on a fast with 3 daily enemas in a series, every other day for two weeks along with probiotics inbetween to avoid losing too much good flora in the gut. She asked that I help push in a colon tube for her third coffee enema in these series. The nature of enemas, they don't go as planned with timing. I have three kids to get from school, work part time. It is hard to say no since she is the one who taught me how to give my children enemas and I have benefited from her knowledge. She is an RN. I think this regime is excessive only not sure my not wanting to help ( no time) enters into the picture.

Be a friend, drive her to a colon therapist and tell her this is beyond what you are comfortable doing without being a professional

Coffee enemas are wonderful for detoxing, but I'd be apprehensive about giving a friend extensive enema treatments. I have taken many coffee enemas myself and retain them for up to a half hour. This is done in private, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

for a coffee enema, I use organic coffee and a long colon tube to deliver it high into my colon...slowly. I've been having coffee enemas for 10 years, I think they're great.

Love the benefits of a coffee enema.

This sounds a little contrived.

First of all, a detox coffee enema is a LOW enema that is relatively small in volume--less than a quart and also is delivered LOW in the colon where it is meant to be absorbed, not high up in the colon. A deep insertion of a colon tube is NOT the way a liver detox coffee enema is meant to be administered.

Switchablessusie,I am a colon therapist and have advised my patients on several occasions when doing an enema at home to take soapy, then rinse enema and to then retain the coffee enema inserted with a colon tube as a high enema, two quarts or better.

Nancy, I am curious.
I have had coffee several times a week for several years now. I use a quart or less, held 10-15 minutes most times, up to 30 minutes some times. I feel great after.
I have tried two quart coffee enemas, sometimes held for longer, once or twice for an hour, and they left me feeling woosy and drained. It seems like I absorbed too much water. Isn't that a common problem with large enemas held for an hour, or is it just me? Also, I have problems retaining for any length of time with that much in me. Do you use an inflatable nozzle or butt plug, or does the colon tube eliminate the urge to go?
For me, one of the reasons for the enema, coffee or other, is to feel good. If it is unpleasant, it is not fun.

Two quarts held for an hour is going to have two effects. One is that your body will absorb a lot of liquid thus disturbing its' electrolyte balance. This could cause heart arythmia which could possibly lead to a heart attack or stroke. Second, that is a lot of caffeine - eight cups of coffee being consumed all at once. Further the coffee is probably an iritant which may cause inflamation of your colon. Also the coffee may cause a lot of gas which can be quite uncomfortable. No wonder you don't feel well afterwards.

You could put some salt in the coffee to reduce the rate of absorption. Salt also reduces the irritating effects of an enema and makes it easier to retain. Also, make sure you are taking plenty of potassium and vitamin B. This should reduce the negative effects. Be nice to your colon!

Just experiment with shorter retention times and smaller doses until you find the level at which it makes you feel your best. If you want to hold it longer, add some salt.

To keep from Absorbing too much water, some sea salt and soda mixed into the coffee should make the experience more tolerable. The coffee enema should be taken after a soapy enema and a clear rinse enema with soda and salt. two quarts or more after the primary infusions should be well tolerated and have a good effect. I agree also with reestablishing good flora with probotics and potassium (a banana would be enjoyable after the series and relaxing.

Nancy, all I can say is you must know more than Max Gerson MD and Nicholas Gonzales MD, if you tell your clients to take a 2 quart high enema with coffee.

Those two independent physicians have done more research and patient treatment over many decades with coffee enemas than anyone else in the world. They both use a LOW enema, a quart or less to be retained for 15-20 minutes. You should read their work and change your regimens.

PS: Neither of them require a cleansing enema first.
