The one that that I found is that most kids do not tolerate the multiple insertions and that is usually the issue with a lot of moms preferring to use an enema bag rather than a bulb. If your son is OK with those, then there is no compelling reason for you to change. For most of us getting the child to accept an enema with minimum fuss is the biggest challenge. Making the enema as comfortable as possible goes a long way to achieving that and is one reason that I say you don't need too much, it shouldn't be too warm or too cool, and you should take your time. The other thing that I've seen mentioned from time to time is that in order to understand what the child is going through a mom should not be a stranger to an enema either.
