Barb, honey, before you decide to keep him on bulb enemas or go to bag enemas, consider WHY you are giving him enemas. If the enemas are for infrequent tummy upsets or occasional constipation, the bulb enemas are just fine. But, if you are giving him enemas as part of a regular program of cleansings for his general and bowel health, please consider a switch to bag enemas. Here are the reasons: 1) A cleansing enema is not going to be effective unless it is a thorough enema. It is easier to give a thorough enema with the bag. 2) As your boy grows older, he will need progressively larger enemas. These will be easier for both of you with a bag. For example, by the time you are giving a 2 quart enema to him, you will be giving him 8 nozzle insertions if you are using your 8 ounce bulb. Las but not least, the day will come, probably in his mid to late teens, when you will teach him how to cleanse his own body. Clearly a bag is easier for self-administered enemas. I can't tell you if a bulb or a bag is better. You must examine the porpose of his enemas and then decide which equipment is best for both today and tomorrow.
