Nancy, I am curious.
I have had coffee several times a week for several years now. I use a quart or less, held 10-15 minutes most times, up to 30 minutes some times. I feel great after.
I have tried two quart coffee enemas, sometimes held for longer, once or twice for an hour, and they left me feeling woosy and drained. It seems like I absorbed too much water. Isn't that a common problem with large enemas held for an hour, or is it just me? Also, I have problems retaining for any length of time with that much in me. Do you use an inflatable nozzle or butt plug, or does the colon tube eliminate the urge to go?
For me, one of the reasons for the enema, coffee or other, is to feel good. If it is unpleasant, it is not fun.

Two quarts held for an hour is going to have two effects. One is that your body will absorb a lot of liquid thus disturbing its' electrolyte balance. This could cause heart arythmia which could possibly lead to a heart attack or stroke. Second, that is a lot of caffeine - eight cups of coffee being consumed all at once. Further the coffee is probably an iritant which may cause inflamation of your colon. Also the coffee may cause a lot of gas which can be quite uncomfortable. No wonder you don't feel well afterwards.

You could put some salt in the coffee to reduce the rate of absorption. Salt also reduces the irritating effects of an enema and makes it easier to retain. Also, make sure you are taking plenty of potassium and vitamin B. This should reduce the negative effects. Be nice to your colon!

Just experiment with shorter retention times and smaller doses until you find the level at which it makes you feel your best. If you want to hold it longer, add some salt.
