Oh please, Switchablesusie. I related the story as a humorous anecdote. Just get a laugh out of it and let it go at that. There really is no need to analyze it in detail.

We don't know the details in the family invollved here.
Maybe the mother has been administering all along and has continued. Maybe the guy made a major mess when he tried doing it in the past. Maybe he wants his Mom to do it, and this time she asked her student-nurse daughter to help.

The issue you raised, about when a kid can take over and do it him self of herself may be a valid topic for another thread. Why not start that discussion?

But for now, just get a kick out of the story and let it go?
