My husband and I have used our reclining chairs for some time. First we cover it with plastic in case of an accident then lie in it with our hips at or slightly above the top, our shoulders rest on the seat. We pull our knees back to allow lubrication and insertion of an 18-inch colon tube or douche nozzle. After the giver inserts the tube or nozzle the recipient rests their legs on the givers shoulders and the giver opens the clamp and holds the bag up, or the bag in hung on a coat tree and the enema injected with a Higginson pump.
In this position Marvin can take almost 4-liters and occasionally the entire amount and I can usually take up to three and a quarter liters.

Be VERY careful about enemas while suspended by your legs or standing on your head. The increased intra-abdominal pressure from the enema can place dangerous pressure against your heart, impede blood circulation, make breathing difficult or even cause a stroke because the blood all flows downhill to your head.
