Interesting thoughts, Olivia. My list is similar in many ways to yours:

WHAT WORKS....

LUBE: Lately I've discovered (with my husband) K-Y warming jell, although I have used AD ointment and still like old fashioned Vaseline, which I wash it off thoroughly each time from rectal tube. Never had "petroleum issues" with this.

TUBE: My 15-inch rectal tube (24Fr.) gives a very effective high enema, when I need one. I wouldn't use anything longer.

SOLUTION: Conti Castile soap with olive oil is favorite. I've also used the enema soap from Optimal Health, which I like, too.

POSITION: Simms into knee-chest, which helps me retain. If I'm sick in bed, I've done left side to back to right side. I usually ask my husband to help me if I'm sick.

INSERTION: Slow, relaxing deep breathing, a little rubbing of the lubed tube against my anus, and I'm ready.

QUANTITY: I'm a smaller quantities work best girl. I'm much more comfortable starting with half a bag and holding. Then I can usually handle a full bag. If I need a true HHH enema series, I'll need an hour or more with rest in between.

TIME: Very slow works best for me. I'll tell my husband "slow down."

TUMMY MASSAGE & WARMTH: If I'm also having period pain, a hot water bottle against my abdomen feels very nice while hubby gives the enema.

Hope others chime in, too. Happy New Year.

Now and then I see a message in which someone wishes we were better at grammar and spelling. I'm not one of those fuss-asses but I wonder how I often see a writer using an apostrophe to denote a plural. The plural is usually denoted with the letter S. As in the word "road" for one such thoroughfare and "roads" for more than one. To write "road's" in trying to write about, say, three such trails or paths is a waste of a keystroke and can be confusing. If we want to write about something that would belong to a road, like a number, we'd correctly write "the road's number is ...."

I'm afraid the misplaced apostrophe is seen so often that many inexperienced writers think they should use it when denoting a plural.

I expect I'm going to get some nasty replies to this - probably by some guys. If I've offended anyone, I apologize.

Cheers!

Elizabeth
