Subject: Enema every day

My husband takes pain medication daily, doesn't get much exercise, and doesn't eat very much because of his painful condition. As a result, he has been quite constipated and I give him a good enema every day. But I'm concerned that an enema every day might be too often. I would appreciate opinions from persons with similar experiences.

Andrea,

If my husband or I have the cold or flu we take a daily saline enema as long as the symptoms last and then for one day more which can be for 10 to 12 days and have no ill effects.

If you're giving your husband daily enemas or even on alternate days I would advise against soap which when done over time will rsult in a residue will build up in his colon and cause an irritation reaction.

Give saline, one teaspoon of sea salt per quart or baking soda 1 tablespoon per quart, at what ever volume works best, which for me is a quart and a half and for my husband two quarts.

Another tip is to give the enemas slowly, it will start working at the moment injection begins and if you take 10 to 15-minutes per quart there should be no discomfort and he won't need a long holding time if any.

Hugs,

Marlene M.

There is a lot of nonsense written about enemas - both pro and con - although mostly con. I suggest you go to a website named Healthlines and once there select on enemas then constipation. This contains one of the most level headed discussions of enemas I have seen.

If you can find anything by Walter C. Alvarez MD on the subject you will find it to be a good source.

When it comes to the subject of enemas people seem to lose all their objectivity and instead use pseudo-medical arguements to auswage their psychological hangups.

Joanie,
I agree with you on the psychological perspective. There have been so many posts on this site about women giving men enemas. I have to wonder if it is because most men can't or won't give themselves one, or if some women get a form of satisfaction, erotic or otherwise, from giving them to men. I have never given a man or anyone else an enema, but it seems that perhaps it might be some kind of maternal instinct for some women.

My son required enemas from three to 16 when he began taking them for himself (I toaught him). Truly, when he was little his cute hinnie exposed, I won't say I was aroused but had a heavy maternal instinct and oftne massaged his tummy and bottom, depending what position he was in and from very young he moaned in pleasure. I gave very slow enemas and he also had great benefit from them. As he got older and he was getting erect with my enemas, I admit to feeling aroused as well. ONly on an private site would I admit that after his enemas, I often gave myself an enema and would cum very fast because seeing his cute butt and his appreciative moans got me stimulated. I never touched his penis, but massaged the area between his balls and penis. at 16 I taught him to take an enema on his own, he still occasionally requested me to give him an enema if he was too unwell to prepare it for himself. I never crossed the line with his treatments but nurtured him with the care of when I breast fed him. I weaned him at two & started the enemas a year later. my Doctor told me to follow my instincts.

Too FEW Mothers, and even fewer Doctors ever RECOGNIZE that some children simply NEED more enemas.

Those boys that grow up needing more enemas than 'usual' can become problematic if the girls they choose to marry or to have an life partners in other ways -- are unskilled, unable, or unwilling to give enemas to their men.

Likewise, some girls just seem to have sluggish bowels, and they, too, benefit from frequent enema therapy, especially during early period times, when a good, high-pH enema would have helped them with less pain, less blood loss, less anemia, and less PMS.

TOO MANY MOMS these days are afraid to give enemas to their children, because - for some reason - our American Society views the old-fashioned enemas in a dim light.

I say we enlightened Mothers should take back control of our children's needs, give fewer PILLS and potions, and should monitor our children's health, including bowel movements, and including giving more frequent enemas, whenever any child requires more therapy.

I have had bowel problems for the last 12 years, been in the hospital twice ,last time was 14 days because I JUST COULDN'T GO.(BM).enemas would not work, They tries every thing they could , then they gave me a bottle of mag citrate and after 6 hrs they gave me a pill and put me to sleep had one large BM in the bed. I had told them when I was addmited that I have the trouble called Pelvic floor disorder and can not have a normal BM ,I have been threw what they call BIO FEEDBACK treatments it has helped some ,but what I really wanted to say is that with all the bowel problems I have ,I take a SSE every day at 6:30 am before I go to work. I use 3 pakets of castile soap in a 3000 ML open top bag on left side -1/3 , back -1/3, right-1/3 with excellent results, then do a soda rinse with 4000ML water. And have been doing this for the past 12 years with no problems.
