Not that our present coach isn't good enough, but there's always a bigger fish and greener grass. With a guy like Mark Johnson out there, we could put our resources into his ideas, and his resources to take our game to the next level.
UTA has long had a good program, but what if it were GREAT?
Baylor went all the way to the CWS this year and we beat them twice. We have the raw talent, that's obvious.
What if our present coach could accept that Mark Johnson would even have a lot to teach him, to make him a better coach.
Maybe Mr. Johnson could fill in for a few years if no one's ego got in the way and then hand the program back over to our present coach. Maybe he even wants the challenge of taking a team like ours, who is always so close, always on the verge and making it stronger.
Think of how many Aggie fans are out there and how his presence would draw more attendance at the games. All those Aggies fans would now come to see the Mavericks play, and we'll recruit their best players and Johnson's most loyal fans. And when we beat them at Home again, they'll call them heros.
Think of how much other kind of attention he could bring to our entire athletic program. First, Donna Capps, then Mark Johnson. Wow!!
Now, with the new physics building, all the new housing and all the new faculty, everything is working together and making UTA stronger than it ever was.
