DBU seems like a good choice, but again..if we need to do something like what Duck described, which is to get out of our conference, then we need to replace ourselves.

We need to build up our conference for now with the best in athletic ability, marketability and graduation rates. We then need to dominate the conference in each of those categories for at least three years.

As for marketability, I think renaming is still a good idea. There are way too many conferences using the "south" in their title. The SLC must re-position itself through competition and marketing.

Our baseball stats do okay for us. But with the new arena, the first thing we need to do is find a school with a ranked BasketBall program and a 1-A fringe football program.
it should be a private school from another state.

Finally, we need the money to move out. That non-existent donating alumni will have to come alive.

Did you know: the Young Alumni (an organization) meets every third thursday of the month. Maybe one the old timers should make your pitch to those guys and try to connect with your future replacements. tell them some good old stories or something. tell stories of how football used to be. build the UTA legacy.
