Hmmmm..It's been a few days since I wrote that post and little conspiracies are popping in and out of my head.

What if Spaniolo is trying to package his rejection letter? You know how politicians try to bury one little addendum in their own favor inside of a mountain of facts that other people are looking for.

What if Spaniolo says "hey listen, we're going to build a stadium. and although we're not yet ready for football, we will also pursue the girls athletics teams in both soccer and golf." blah, blah, blah, I think I've satisfied the demand sports expansionm what more can you ask for from one guy."

And then everyone forgives him because we still get the women's team and we expanded athletics [technically speaking] and we do still get something bigtime, that being the new basketball arena. yea! basketball.

that's my fear.

so here's my challenge. We're not asking for the women's sports. we don't care about soccer and we don't care about golf. The reality is, those were put in their to satisfy Title IX. That's it, and that's that. Golf will not inspire 12,000 people to wear UTA swetshirts. And 12,000 people won't show up for women's golf. And it won't put us on the map.

So I hope that Mr. Spaniolo doesn't think that he can give us women's soccer or golf by themselves without football. That's not what we asked for.

And this is Texas, ghetto athletics like basketball don't get the same kind of attention around here as they do up north.

Here are your option:

Football, or nothing.
Big Conference, Big School, or nothing.
Statewide loyalties and National recognition, or nothing.
Traditional Campus and Top-tier University, or nothing.
A Legacy of growth, Tradition, and Over-achieving greatness, or nothing.
A Nice, Long Career at UTA, or nothing.

Because nothing else matters in Texas like football.

How's that for a letter?
