Last year steven floyd had a 20+ scoring night last year against Texas. The only really athletic kid I see is Guidry out of this group. I think Jermaine needs to learn how to pass the ball or it will come back to bite UTA in the butt later when teams double him. Sauls is another Keith Howell type player who probably wont start till he is a senior. guidry wont start until his junior year because of his inability to learn HOW to play. Natural ability wont get him over the hump in the long run because all he can do is jump. The coaches will be to blame if he doesn't learn how to shoot the ball, dribble and get aggressive on defense. I think that Epps will be the better player in the Long run because he knows how to play the game and doesn't rely on natural ability. Posey will be good but he will have to get his knees in order. The freshmen of 2000 came in ranked as a top 30-40 recruiting class. We forget who they brought in. Milos Nikolic 6'9" small forward. Akil Ungounu 6'9" power forward. Roy Johnson 6'9" Center, Derrick Obasohan 6'6" small forward, and Donny Beacham 6'5" shooting guard/Small forward. This was a sick line-up if they could have stayed together and grown together. All of them started atleast 2 games there freshmen year and that won't happen with this 2004 group. The problem is that no group of freshmen stay together at UTA. I don't think this group will be any different. that 2000 group was much better when you take into account all five players and not just 3. And I still feel that neither one of these five 2004 freshmen would have played more than 12 minutes a game if they came here in 2000 with that group. I would never have played Guidry, Epps, or Sauls before Beacham, Obasohan, Johnson, Ungounu, or Nikolic. Posey and Griffith may have played some minutes. They 2000 group was taller, knew the game a lot better and changed the complexion of this UTA program Immediately. They had winning seasons all but one year here which is great considering the history of the program.
